Pending Sale Offline Locator Notifications

Ever had a customer buy a vehicle with RecovR only to find out when they get home that the locator wasn't inside the car?  Well now you can set up alerts to warn you when this happens!

You can now enable alerts to send an email for the situations outlined below.  This wll allow you to correct the problem before the customer ever leaves the lot.

Unlike many of our alerts, this alert will not go to Location Admins, but rather to a list specified on the Location Alerts Page.

You can specify a list of users to receive these alerts.  Users are not required to have a RecovR account in order to receive these alerts.

  • Registered RecovR Users
  • Non-Registered Users
    • Will be sent the alert based on the designated method used when adding them.
    • Any valid phone number or email can be added
    • Users will have the option to opt-out of these alerts through our 3rd party sending tools. (Twilio for SMS or Mailgun for Email)

Paired vehicles sold as Vehicle Only

When a paired vehicle is marked as sold it enters a Sale Pending state until the locator is unpaired from the vehicle.  If enabled you can now get an alert when this happens letting you know to grab the locator before the customer takes it home preventing a charge for a lost locator.

An email or text will be sent to specified Dealership staff notifying them of the sale and instructing them to unpair the locator.

Unpaired vehicles sold with RecovR

While in the Lot Management UI we require a locator in order to create a RecovR Sale, if your dealership is using PEN to integrate with RecovR you may not get any warning that a locator wasn't paired to the vehicle. Now you can get an alert letting you know!

As of this release we will now send an email or text to specified users letting them know that a customer purchased RecovR but the vehicle was missing a locator.

Paired vehicles sold with an offline locator

While in the Lot Management UI we prevent RecovR sales where the paired locator is offline, if your dealership uses PEN to connect to RecovR you may not get a warning when this happens. Now you can get a text letting you know so that you can replace the locator with a working one before the customer goes home!

As of this release we will send an email or text to specified dealership staff letting them know that the locator should be replaced prior to the customer taking the vehicle home.

Proactive Notification of Offline Paired Locators

It doesn't happen a lot, but sometimes locators can stop working for various reasons. This is easy to correct, but you need to know when it happens.

In this release we have added an alert that you can enable to send a weekly email notifying you of any vehicles with a paired locator that is offline.

To use this feature you can enable it on the Location Alerts page in your side navigation.

Better Insight Into Your Lost Locators

Are you tired of Lost Locators clogging up your inventory? We’ve heard you, and have restructured our approach to Lost Locators.

New Lost Devices page in the UI

When a device becomes lost it will now show up on the Lost Locators tab.  When Locators become lost they will now be removed from your Locator page and we will create a Lost Locator Record. These can be viewed on their own dedicated tab on the side bar. Learn more about Lost Locators, what causes locators to become lost, how to mark them as found, how they are billed and more in our documentation.

Table Editing Usability Improvements

Drill In Table Button

There’s a new, convenient feature added to all of our device tables: a dedicated Drill-In Column. Located at the very left of each table, this feature significantly enhances user interaction in several ways:

  1. Direct Access to Item Screens: With the new Drill-In Column, users can now effortlessly navigate to the item screen of any device. This streamlined approach ensures that you can quickly dive deeper into specific items for more detailed information or actions.
  2. Enhanced Edit Mode Interaction: This update addresses and reduces conflicts previously experienced during table editing. Users found it challenging to distinguish between editing a cell and navigating to an item screen when editing a link column. The Drill-In Column clearly separates these two actions and allows us to disable the link column while in edit mode, allowing users to edit the link column string.

Table Editor Enhancements

We're excited to announce significant enhancements to the table editor's usability and interaction design. Key improvements include:

  • Intuitive Hover and Selection Indicators: When in edit mode, users will now experience clear hover and selection states. These visual cues are designed to intuitively indicate editable areas, streamlining the editing process.
  • Refined Editing for Strings and Dropdowns: Editing text and selecting from dropdowns is now more seamless than ever. We've adopted industry-standard practices to ensure a smoother, more intuitive user experience when interacting with these elements.
  • Dedicated Editor Popup for Complex Attributes: For attributes that require more detailed editing – such as images – we've introduced a convenient editor popup. This feature is directly accessible from the table, making it easier for users to make complex edits without leaving the context of their work.

🐛 Fixed

Found Locator credit issued before Lost Locator charge

Previously if a Locator was lost and then found before the lost charge was invoiced we would issue the credit prior to actually issuing the charge.  Going forward if a locator is found before it is ever invoiced it will simply not be added to any invoice.

🚀 New Features

Theft Recovery Contact Information

Upon enabling theft recovery for a vehicle, the dealer now has the capability to input a contact name, contact email, and contact phone number associated with the theft case.

This is will be visible on the Theft Recovery page in Lot Management and the information will be sent out in the email that goes to support when a Theft Case is created.

Map Icon Aggregations & Visualizations

  • Map Icon Aggregations have been updated for Locators on the Vehicle and Locator pages of Lot Management and the Support Tool.
  • When a large number of icons exist on a map in high density, users may struggle with discerning the key information from the page.
  • To help with this, map icon aggregation enables users to cluster individual points on a map into bubbles that display the device count in a general area. It also provides the ability to click into a bubble for a closer zoom, revealing greater levels of detail on the map.

✅ Improvements

Optimize Pairing for Poor Network

  • When pairing a locator to a vehicle, the user would search for both the locator and the vehicle.  In situations where the network was slow the UI would continue to show the previous search results after the search term had been updated.  This would cause users to sometimes errantly pick the top result not realizing that it was from a previous search.
  • In this release we have updated the UI to instead remove search results from previous searches when a new search is started.  This should help reduce the frequency of users errantly pairing a vehicle to the wrong locator.

Note: This is not a backward compatible feature, so we will not be able to force users to update who are using version released before Audi A3
