Better Insight Into Your Lost Locators

Are you tired of Lost Locators clogging up your inventory? We’ve heard you, and have restructured our approach to Lost Locators.

New Lost Devices page in the UI

When a device becomes lost it will now show up on the Lost Locators tab.  When Locators become lost they will now be removed from your Locator page and we will create a Lost Locator Record. These can be viewed on their own dedicated tab on the side bar. Learn more about Lost Locators, what causes locators to become lost, how to mark them as found, how they are billed and more in our documentation.

Table Editing Usability Improvements

Drill In Table Button

There’s a new, convenient feature added to all of our device tables: a dedicated Drill-In Column. Located at the very left of each table, this feature significantly enhances user interaction in several ways:

  1. Direct Access to Item Screens: With the new Drill-In Column, users can now effortlessly navigate to the item screen of any device. This streamlined approach ensures that you can quickly dive deeper into specific items for more detailed information or actions.
  2. Enhanced Edit Mode Interaction: This update addresses and reduces conflicts previously experienced during table editing. Users found it challenging to distinguish between editing a cell and navigating to an item screen when editing a link column. The Drill-In Column clearly separates these two actions and allows us to disable the link column while in edit mode, allowing users to edit the link column string.

Table Editor Enhancements

We're excited to announce significant enhancements to the table editor's usability and interaction design. Key improvements include:

  • Intuitive Hover and Selection Indicators: When in edit mode, users will now experience clear hover and selection states. These visual cues are designed to intuitively indicate editable areas, streamlining the editing process.
  • Refined Editing for Strings and Dropdowns: Editing text and selecting from dropdowns is now more seamless than ever. We've adopted industry-standard practices to ensure a smoother, more intuitive user experience when interacting with these elements.
  • Dedicated Editor Popup for Complex Attributes: For attributes that require more detailed editing – such as images – we've introduced a convenient editor popup. This feature is directly accessible from the table, making it easier for users to make complex edits without leaving the context of their work.

🐛 Fixed

Found Locator credit issued before Lost Locator charge

Previously if a Locator was lost and then found before the lost charge was invoiced we would issue the credit prior to actually issuing the charge.  Going forward if a locator is found before it is ever invoiced it will simply not be added to any invoice.

🚀 New Features

Theft Recovery Contact Information

Upon enabling theft recovery for a vehicle, the dealer now has the capability to input a contact name, contact email, and contact phone number associated with the theft case.

This is will be visible on the Theft Recovery page in Lot Management and the information will be sent out in the email that goes to support when a Theft Case is created.

Map Icon Aggregations & Visualizations

  • Map Icon Aggregations have been updated for Locators on the Vehicle and Locator pages of Lot Management and the Support Tool.
  • When a large number of icons exist on a map in high density, users may struggle with discerning the key information from the page.
  • To help with this, map icon aggregation enables users to cluster individual points on a map into bubbles that display the device count in a general area. It also provides the ability to click into a bubble for a closer zoom, revealing greater levels of detail on the map.

✅ Improvements

Optimize Pairing for Poor Network

  • When pairing a locator to a vehicle, the user would search for both the locator and the vehicle.  In situations where the network was slow the UI would continue to show the previous search results after the search term had been updated.  This would cause users to sometimes errantly pick the top result not realizing that it was from a previous search.
  • In this release we have updated the UI to instead remove search results from previous searches when a new search is started.  This should help reduce the frequency of users errantly pairing a vehicle to the wrong locator.

🚀 What's New

  • 6-year Warranty: Dealers now have the option to sell a 6-year warranty rather than a 3-year warranty via PEN or the UI.  This was a direct ask from multiple dealerships and is now available.  This information is also visible in the Support Tool UI.
  • Map Icon Aggregations: Vehicle icons on maps will now group based on proximity. This will help make the map less cluttered while still showing the user relevant information.  Map icons will separate as the user zooms in.

Map icon aggregations.
  • Skip FOTA Attribute on Locations: There are several locations that should never receive a FOTA update (terminated locations, manufacturing, etc).  These required operators to “just know” which locations shouldn’t receive updates.  To help with this we have added an attribute on Locations (fotaOptions/fotaUpdate) which can be set as desired and then used to automatically filter out any locations that should never receive FOTA updates.

✅ Improvements

  • Allow users to void sales up to 21 days: Previously dealers were only able to void sales for 7 days after the sale.  This resulted in a large number of support requests to void sales past this timeframe.  Extending the window in which dealers can void sales should reduce requests made to RecovR Support.
  • Remove Zone Labels from Map view: Previously zone names were shown on any map view showing zones.  These often clutter the interface and become unreadable.  These have been removed to make the map cleaner.  Zone Name should still show up when the mouse is over a given zone.

🔑 R4K

  • Users will now see a warning on any Vehicle Only sales where tags are paired at the time of sale.  This mimics the warning already seen when a locator is paired on a Vehicle Only sale.
removeKeys.png
  • Dealerships can now create and void Key sales via PEN integration.
  • Users are now blocked from pairing keys to tags that are not reporting (heartbeat older than 10 minutes) or have a battery level below 50%.

🐛 Fixed

  • There were a small number of locators where the Invoice ID was populating as “undefined”.  This issue has been fixed.
  • Some locators would not properly update their paired status leading to mismatches between status and actual state.  This has been fixed to ensure the status is in sync and updated properly.

🗺️ Your Zones Are Back on the Map

Zones had stopped drawing in Map View, which left you with no way to see at a glance where anything actually sat on your lot. They show up again for Vehicles, Keys, Tags, and Locators.

⚡ Position History That Loads Quickly and Stays Up

Looking back at where a vehicle has been should be fast, and on an iPhone it should not take the app down with it. Both are better in this patch.

  • History covering less than a month now takes the quick route rather than the one built for long-range lookups, so recent history comes back faster

🐛 Fixed

  • The date and time range filter shows again on the vehicle map, so you can narrow history down to the window you care about
  • On Android, the Mute and Unmute button is no longer hidden behind your phone's navigation bar while a tag is ringing — the app now leaves room for it

🔔 Ring a Tag or Key From Your Phone

Tracking down a misplaced key used to mean walking the lot and hoping to hear it. Tap Find Tag or Find Key on an asset and a new screen rings it straight from your phone, with a map showing where you are standing and where the tag was last seen.

  • The screen moves through Press Play, Connecting, and Ringing, so you always know whether it has reached the tag yet
  • Pause stops the sound whenever you want, and Mute silences it while the lights keep flashing, so you can keep hunting quietly in a showroom

💬 Get Help Without Leaving the App

A new RecovR tab sits in the bottom navigation bar. It is a direct line to the support team and to the help articles, so a question about a locator no longer means switching to email and describing your setup from scratch.

  • Message support and see your whole conversation history in one place
  • Push notifications tell you when support replies, and tapping one drops you back into the conversation
  • Search the help articles and tutorials without leaving the app

🔑 Clearer Errors When a Tag Will Not Pair

Pairing used to fail without telling you why. The app now gives the same reasons the web interface does, so you know whether to grab a different tag or just wait.

  • Low Battery appears for any tag under 50 percent, so you find out before the tag goes in the car
  • Tag Not in Range appears when a tag has not checked in for more than ten minutes

🐛 Fixed

  • On Android, tapping the hotline number now opens your dialer instead of doing nothing

🗺️ Look Back Further Than Yesterday in Position History

Checking where your vehicle has been over the past month used to come up empty. If you asked for a longer stretch of history, the app would tell you there was no data at all for the last 30 days — even when there was plenty. That range now loads the way you expect

🔔 Movement Alerts Turn On When You Ask Them To

If you have ever tried to turn on alerts for your vehicle and been told the locator was already locked when you had not locked anything, that is fixed.

🎨 A New App Icon

RecovR has a new icon on your home screen — cleaner and flatter, without the old gradient. Nothing about how you use the app has changed; it is just easier to spot.

🐛 Fixed

  • In-app surveys can be closed again on Pixel A series phones, so a survey no longer stays stuck on your screen
  • Stopping the ring with the button on your tag now updates the app, so the screen goes back to Play instead of looking like the tag is still ringing
